The story behind Name Jar
It started with a real jar.
“We’ll just pick a name out of the jar.”
My wife and I wanted our family to be part of naming our baby, so we invited everyone to write down their suggestions and place them in a jar. It let the people we love participate without every idea becoming another conversation about our naming direction.
When we finally sat down with the jar, we reviewed every suggestion, including our own. The name we chose was Ava. We repeated the process for each of our three children, and now other members of our family are doing it too.
Now we’re bringing the jar to your phone. Planned shared jars will let invited family members suggest names privately while parents review every name on their own time.

Discover your taste
With explicit consent, Name Jar remembers a bounded set of keep and pass choices on this device, reflects verified patterns, and proposes editable filters. Nothing is uploaded, and Settings can erase the memory.

Compare finalists
Owners can bring two to four shortlisted names together with verified catalog details and neutral questions to discuss. Name Jar never scores the names, recommends a favorite, or chooses a winner.

Create a keepsake
After the reveal, create a short Warm, Playful, or Simple note. It disappears when you leave unless you choose to copy or share it, and contributor information is never included.
